This might take some of the pressure off the Catholic church. Boy Scouts don't require the scoutmasters to be celibate and yet still...

Thousands of boys abused, thousands of abusers. Far more than have come forward and likely many thousands more in the 100 year history of scouting.

I don't get it. Is it really that hard to keep your hands off your underage charges? Is anyone to be trusted with children?

I was going to post something about "The Lord of the Flies", but in a search I stumbled across this.

Maybe only children who are not under the care of adults can be trusted?

I wonder if there are really 90,000 victims. The ambulance chasers started this one announcing a multi-million dollar settlement which you could, basically claim, if you were abused. The question then becomes how you prove that happened. I would bet that some of those victims - weren't!

I tried boy scouts for about 2 weeks and then they threw me out because I was a bad boy (I think - only really remember that it only lasted two weeks)

I'm not too surprised. I was in Scouts back in the 60's. I heard some stories about gay activity involving leaders from other scouts and lost interest. I was into heterosexual fooling around from an early age!

I just didn't get it and, I have been told, didn't mind real good. The result was simple, they wished me luck and I never went back.

I never had the chance to serve. My mom was "den mother" to a pack of cub scouts when my brother was of that age. She didn't want to fool with it when it came my turn.
