Many GOP'ers are on Sunday news shows and are saying let's have "unity" and "move-on" from the Rightwing wingnut insurrection on January 6, 2021 "for the good of the country."

Fck that!

All of the GOP'ers who were inciting insurrection especially Ted Cruz and Josh Holly, and today's talk show circuit clowns Marco Rubio, Jim Jordan ALL need to be removed from office.

If these aholes are not held accountable now...then when?

First, Accountability
Next, Consequences
Then, Reconciliation

You can only get to reconciliation *after* accountability and consequences. Reconciliation will not be the first step.

Roy Blunt using the Susan Collins' defense:

Now my personal view is that the president touched the hot stove on Wednesday and is unlikely to touch it again.

He must be impeached. Otherwise, a future president will rightly say that he is allowed to do whatever he wants, including attacking and destroying Congress.

“What do you mean I cannot?” The future Trumpian president will say. “It’s the normal and legal remedy to a ‘rogue’ Congress and corrupt states as proven in 2020/2021”

To not impeach because “he’s leaving soon already” is like saying “no need to prosecute that mob hit man, he’s headed back to Russia tomorrow anyways.”

To not impeach at this point means that a president is free to do whatever they want after they lose an election.

This anachronistic delay from election to swearing in needs to be done away with. It shouldn’t take long to certify an election. The delay made sense in 1789 and in 1933 when communications moved at the speed of horses and then trains. It makes no sense now and allows (as we see today) abundant opportunity for the loser of an election to burn down the house on his way out the door.

Censure can also insure he can never run again and he is leaving very soon and can be contained. I would be delighted if he gets impeached but, right now, they are saying that won't happen until after Biden is sworn in. Censure, on the other hand gets passed when both houses vote for Censure with simple majorities thereby assuring passage and the end of our national jackass.

the delay from election to swearing in is so that the turnover can happen clean and done. Your way means that the new president has to take over from scratch. Perhaps not a great thing?

Except, if the President is an asshat, the orderly transition never occurs. Better to say the President-elect becomes President when Congress certifies the electoral votes with full powers, and the retiring President has none of those powers but they and their administration stick around in an advisory role for a month. Instead now we have cabinet officers jumping ship with no transition at all and a very dangerous President with tremendous abilities to create mayhem.

Irked, there were telephones and telegraphs in 1933, now 1833 is another story. Television was first successfully demonstrated in San Francisco on Sept. 7, 1927.

Do I get a two-fer, this and condescending?

@Ujest Shurly

When I wrote "communications" I was using the word in the sense of "travel". Senators, representatives, electors and winning presidential and vice-presidential candidates cannot be sent by radio or telegraph to Washington from their far-flung homes.

You are right. However its worked for 200 years without a real problem. you may be right given the current disaster we have with OUR National Jackass and Loser. I think the real problem is that the first year of Trump convinced most of us that he was a genuine mistake and the real problem were those who decided to kiss the National Ass due to, as far as I can tell, just plain lazy.

Then, again, many have noticed that anytime somebody becomes involved with the National Jackass they seem to become junior national Jackasses all on their own! Its as if the man is carrying his ability to fail like a gigantic virus for which there seems to be no cure and passes easily between certain humans.
