I just received a phone call on the "Bat Line" a land line phone number only my relatives and people I want to hear from have. I have a second land line for everyone else that I never answer: Banks, the security phone system for the complex that I live in.

This guy from a Virginia number just called the 'Bat Line.' He asked if I was so-and-so. I said no. He asked me my name. I told him I can't tell him that. He stated that he can't stop calling me then. I said yes you can. He said no I cant.

I blocked his number from ever calling me again. ,

Ya...know...I try to be nice first, and when I have to take matters into my own hands...

In the good news file for this morning:
 Quote:
California's population continued to grow modestly in the last fiscal year despite a significant exodus of residents to other states, according to a state report released Wednesday.

The annual study by the Department of Finance showed that 89,000 more people moved out of California than moved here from elsewhere in the United States. California's population did grow in fiscal 2007 -- but the growth rested on births and the arrival of more than 200,000 immigrants from other countries.

Even with the housing situation? I would expect California to lose population given the home financing situation.

Some folks aren't necessarily leaving California, just certain areas of California. The article mentioned most areas shrinking except SD County and Riverside. And if you look at populations within SD County you'll see certain areas decreasing while others are increasing. Downtown SD is having a heck of a time selling anything while the outlying areas of SD like El Cajon, Temecula, and Oceanside see a slight uptick as people move from the more expensive central areas to the less expensive outskirts. I know more than a few people who moved out to Temecula for the cheaper housing and have a 1-2 hour commute into SD proper, I can't remember if Temecula is considered Riverside County or SD County though...

Heck I recently moved from the very expensive La Jolla area to the slightly less expensive Mission Valley area because of rent increases (that and I shacked up with my gf )

Anecdotally, almost all the folks I know that have left the state were a) recently retired and moving to Arizona or New Mexico or b) moving because of a job.

Temecula is Riverside County. I have an Aunt that lives in Elsinore, also Riverside County.

...and our very own Scout lives in Riverside County.

Hey, I'd say you were pretty darn nice to him anyhow. When he asked you your name, you could have said "none of your effin bizness!" And what, you didn't call him any names?

When I switched from landline to cellphone, my nuisance call rate dropped to nearly none. I still get very few, even though my number is all over the place.

I discussed on another thread about the Acorn housing finance program. The reason that I know about the program is because, I hope to purchase real soon.

I never thought I could by myself, but the program will allow me to do so.

I'm hoping to get pre-approved then I can look at any property to purchase (...or to swoop down on a property in foreclosure).

I kid-you-not, some neighborhoods in my own County, Contra Costa, have four to five homes per block up for sale. Usually, one of those five are in foreclosure.

I really like on property in foreclosure, but the bank's asking price is too high. Fine. Let them hold onto it. I also know that some day, they'll come down in price because banks are not in the property holding business.

I tell myself just to wait it all out. Time is on my side.
