Oh, I suppose it would be nice to let Sarah have a rest. But it seems she has a real talent for publicity.

In this case, she was doing an interview at a local alask turkey ranch. She had a ritual pardoning of the turkey event/interview... then she proceeded to a more extensive interview. Nothing too remarkable... except for the fact that you get to watch the turkeys being killed in the background

I saw this yesterday. It's pretty horrifying overall. Yes, I understand that the turkeys we eat at Thanksgiving (some of us) were alive and now are not. But in addition to the chipper thing in the background, what makes this so horrifying is that she was blissfully unaware of what was going on behind her and nobody stopped the cameras.

That, and that fact that the guy doing the killing seemed like he could be the in-bred cousin of one of the characters from the movie "Deliverance".

Hey - the job is killing turkeys, one at a time. In Alaska. You were expecting what, maybe, someone of CEO material? For that job, having at least a couple of teeth that meet is probably cause for promotion.

now now, dont focus on the one in the background. Hes doing a job, unsightly and disturbing yes, but a necessary for carnivores such as myself to be able to eat meat.

and at least its honest work, for which he appears well qualified.

as for exhibit A in the foreground........

Hey, I'll look where I wanna look, you do the same. (To be honest, I watched a bit, but shut it down before it was halfway throught!)

Well, if she was a more polished pol, oh say like a Chicago pol or a Megamillionaire House Speaker pol, who apparently watched one too many re-runs of "Jerry MaGuire", then she would have run over and rescued the bird, professed her love of all things bright and beautiful, and then, when the camera's were pointed elsewhere, she would have tossed the bird back to the fellow for its "final prep". Instead, she apparently is grounded in the reality of life and was not sophisticated enough to turn it into a phony photo-op PETA rescue moment. Shame on her.;-)
Yours,
Issodhos

She had the opportunity to rescue when they handed her the muddy turkey at the beginning and she wouldn't take it. I'm sure she went and washed her hands.

Iss, that's not dishonesty - that's a long tradition of propriety - you know, that antique line about laws and sausages?

I'm well aware that ugly things happen. I'm also aware that there are times when I might actually need to watch them. This isn't one of them.

Don't know whether it was Palin or whether the local news is incompetent (or perhaps set her up) --- but this was stupid all the way around.
