I say "Merry Christmas".
And they don't come much more pagan than me!!!

But this year I often have appened at the end, "or whatever you're celebrating this time of year".

I don't think "The Church" so much stole pagan rituals as they realigned the liturgical calendar to coincide with the timing of those rituals so they could take advantage of the big crowds!

Sort of like having state political conventions to coincide with celebrations of birthdays of "heroes" in variouls parts of the country, like Jefferson/Jackson Day.

Oh I don't think anybody has mentioned this....

Dec 26, 2004 - Under the Indian Ocean, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake sent 500-mph waves across the Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal. The tsunami killed at least 283,000 people in a dozen countries, including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sumatra, Thailand and India.

We are having ANOTHER cold, snowy day and I'm getting sick of it. It's been over two weeks of snow. Wouldn't be so bad if the cities out here trained people in snow removal and had a few plows so we could get out and about. We didn't leave Minnesota for this!

Our Christmas was quiet since we couldn't go anywhere and no one could come here. We're still waiting on gifts to come from Wisconsin and the mailwoman was able to get packages to us on Tuesday when there was a break and we were half-way plowed out.

This is a Christmas to remember. And, not very fondly, I'm afraid. Although we were reminded of all that we had to be thankful for - a warm home, friends and family who called us, plenty of food in the freezer and fridge. But, it's getting very old.

The City just came by on the street below us, into which our cul de sac street flows. It was a road grader not a plow. It piled up so much heavy snow and slush that now our cul de sac is blocked. Several calls to the city over the last couple of weeks have resulted in nothing. It's like this all over the Puget Sound area.

That's the end of my complaining for the day. Happy Boxing Day to everyone.

500 MPH waves! Crikey! I never heard that number.

Dockside, I'm hoping a whole lotta folks like you just get fed up with all that cold weather and move on down here to Sunny Florida Where there are Robins in the yard and flowers blooming and temps in the upper 70s, please, come on down, buy some of these extra houses!
