GoFundMe is refunding all donations made to the 'Fund the Wall' campaign (Business Insider). Surprising exactly no one, the overtly racist GoFundMe campaign to build Trump's Wall collapsed spectacularly, only $991 million shy of its goal. Instead, the fraudsters behind it have created a less-well-regulated "non-profit" (ss 503(c)(4)) to fleece donors instead. Lest anyone doubt my characterization of the new entity, I offer the following: 1) In announcing the new organization, Kolfage, who instigated the campaign, said "donors could redirect their donations to a new "501(c)(4) non-profit Florida Corporation named 'We Build the Wall, Inc.'" if they still wished for their money to be used, in one way or another, to build a wall."; ss 503(c)(4) is used by lobbying organizations, not charities; and its "trustees" include - Erik Prince, David Clarke, the former Wisconsin sheriff known for expressing controversial views on immigration, and Mary Ann Mendoza, a proponent of stricter immigration laws.
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich
