America is a beautiful place to live

Have a great week
Thank you, Phil. Those are beautiful photos to start the week.

This a run through. We're going out of town tomorrow. I'm getting ready.

I'll be back though.
Olyve

OMG, how?
Sheer luck.

1989 Voyager 2 flies past Neptune

Why not? "Plunges off" and "flies past" sound comparable to me.
Happy birthday to the 19th Amendment - and thank you, Alice Paul!

I attended an event this weekend at Paulsdale. Alice Paul's home was dedicated as a National Monument in honor of the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. It was a lovely day. Alice would have enjoyed it.
In L.A. to get dad. We're leaving to go back home ( smile , wink ) to the Bay Area on Sunday - after a family get-together to send dad off.

He's very excited his new life. I hope he's not disappointed about his choice of moving up north.

LOL
Schlack, your neighbors are misbehaving again. My favorite part of the article is this:
Quote
In a society where religious identity and sectarianism remain dominant forces, anti-gay rhetoric is not uncommon. Iris Robinson, the wife of the leader of the province's power-sharing government and a former lawmaker in her own right, denounced homosexuality as an abomination. (She later resigned from the Northern Ireland Assembly when she was caught having an affair with a 19-year-old and secretly raising money for him to open a coffee shop.)
Attacks on gays in Northern Ireland city increase

Then there is this:
Quote
It was one of three assassination attempts within a single week this month on people connected to the British and Northern Irish security forces. Together with other recent incidents, the failed attacks are part of an upswing of activity by republican rebels intent on disrupting the peace process that formally ended decades of heavy sectarian bloodshed in this divided territory.

The surge comes at a delicate moment. Tensions always run high in Northern Ireland in the summer, when parades by Protestant groups emphasizing their loyalty to the British crown create friction with their Roman Catholic, republican-minded neighbors.

Time to close up shop for this week. wink
