Last night I was watching Trump at one of his speeches to the true believers. We have all seen these things. The people who are behind him seem to all be old enough for Medicare and Social Security and none of them appear to have piles of money. Everytime I see this I get gobsmacked as it just makes no sense!

I can remember when Trump was messing around with the budget and had slated to reduced support for both Medicare AND Social Security! I expect many here can remember this as well. There was even some discussion on it.

My problem remains. What in the hell are these people doing? Why are they supporting somebody who wants to take away their healthcare and money they need to eat with? Why! Then there are all the signs, many of which are praising Trump for doing so much to help them! Next Question! What, exactly has Trump done for these people that they are grateful for?

I dawns on me that something strange going on here. These people literally adore Trump! They also think he has done a lot for them! They are actually grateful to him for all the good he has done. None of this makes any sense.

So, does anybody understand what in the hell is going on? Oh, maybe that's the wrong question. How about; does anybody understand why people think that Trump has helped them and why would they simply ignore his effort to wreck Medicare and Social Security when they rely on both to survive. Its just too strange to let stand. There has to be somebody that can explain it all?

Please?

Why do people vote the way they do or support who they do. There is no common sense answer. Around 60% of the electorate vote the R and the D. History shows that those who consider themselves Republicans and or Democrats will vote for their party's candidates 92% of the time. No questions asked regardless of who the candidates are.

That probably has a lot to do with our modern political era we've entered into, of polarization, the great divide and the super, mega, ultra-high partisanship. Why Republicans in general or Trump supporters in particular think of Trump as their savior, I've been unable to figure that one out. In my younger days, I've been an avid supporter of certain candidates, but when they lost, it was time to move on. You don't see that with Trumpers.

As for the remaining 40%, we call them independents, the non-affiliated, the less to non-partisans among other names. There's probably more than a million and one reasons why they vote like they do. They have no qualms voting for one party's candidates one election and then reverse themselves by voting for the other party's candidates the next. Now I'm sure each has their own reason, some probably make a lot of sense, other reasons we probably consider asinine.

But whatever the reason, that reason is important to them. I'm probably no help. But in short, it may be it isn't up to others to understand why I or others vote the way I or others do. I, myself have to understand. No one else.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

For many people in America (poor and rich), it's about "getting away with it". Cheating, especially the government. Having no boundaries. Mobster lifestyle.

It's the American Way.
They think Trump is smart because he gets away with all the crimes he's committed.

I think some of it might have to do with the American Dream. I might live in a single-wide right now but- one good lawsuit, one good accident, a successful side gig selling weed, and that’ll be me at the front of the line at the bank.

Or it will be my kids, get them through college, start at juco, then go to state, be a lawyer, something like that.

Our goddamn turn is coming, and when it gets here I’m not paying any taxes either.
