Every now and then TV will show Trump supporters watching him on TV. They are usually in a bar having a great time. Basically their reality is TVland and he is performing for them and they love it! Those of us who do not consider TVland reality just don't get it! Trump true believers are, I think, people who just can't keep up anymore and have taken another road.

I can remember, years ago <sigh> when there were people getting concerned about this and what to do about it. We are, now, waaay past that one! Now ITS A FACT! We are told who the core true believers are. They are, basically, poor, ignorant, folks who are more comfortable with beer and tv than where we are. The old concern was that things were moving too fast and certain segments of society were having serious problems keeping up with the continuous changes as technology continued to change society. There remain, even now, large groups of people who are sick and tired of everything changing on a regular basis. I believe that Trump True Believers are a major part of our society that just doesn't want to keep up anymore and have given up.

Makes sense. Hmm

Has Trump learned anything from Covid-19? Absolutely not (Guardian, Opinion) "Wed like to believe that suffering instructs and ennobles. But, once again, Donald Trump seems to be ineducable"
Quote:
Ever since we learned that there are ways to limit the spread of Covid-19, we have understood that mask-wearing was intended not only to safeguard our own wellbeing but to ensure the safety of others. Social distancing was not simply a means of personal protection but a civic responsibility that might protect the most vulnerable and, as it has turned out, the otherwise healthy young people who, tragically, have succumbed to the virus.

Even if we dont believe in science, even if we dont believe in the virus, even if we dont believe in the efficacy of wearing masks, we might, it seems to me, have adopted some version of Pascals famous wager. Though the existence of God cannot be definitively proven, posited the 17th-century philosopher, it would be wise to assume and behave as if God does exist....

Regardless of our stance on the course and prevention of the pandemic, why not take the gamble: wear a mask, keep our distance and protect the lives of other people? But this response presupposes that we care about the lives of other people.

Donald Trump, his advisers and many of his fans have made it abundantly clear that they do not.
Quote:
Wed like to believe that suffering instructs and ennobles; that our grief, fear and pain increases our sympathy for the grief, fear and pain of others. But again, Donald Trump seems to be ineducable, impervious to shame, guilt or any sense of personal responsibility, unaffected by anything except vanity, selfishness and reckless self-regard. Certainly, the experience of having his blood oxygen level drop so low that supplemental oxygen was required must have been alarming, and yet the president continues to believe that bluster is the best medicine.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

gee ... another example of people not realizing the obvious .... Mr Trump suffers from narcissistic personality disorder .... he can't learn ... he lives in a delusion of his own making
