I was rooting around the other day and came across the Washington State regulations for getting the covid vaccine. I am supplying a link to the rules. I said, a while ago, that gov was going to go too far in deciding who, what, when, and where is going to qualify for the vaccine. They have. Its ridiculous and here it is:
https://www.doh.wa.gov/Portals/1/Documen...iortization.pdf

I am convinced that they have so complicated the entire thing that they have made no friends over this one. It gets particularly interesting for groups who really don't want to get the vaccine. Seems a lot of concern is over that rather than just getting everybody who wants a shot to get one!

I am, incidentally, convinced that the real answer involves giving anybody who asks the vaccine until the supply runs out and just keep on doing that until everybody has had the shot(s)
In the end that's what will happen anyway..........

It’s not as though doses are going unused. When there is a short supply, you need to get the supply that exists to the people who need it the most.

There is a bit of a fiasco in California. They changed the rules mid-course to include anybody 65 and over, while a lot of much older folks and even health care workers had not been vaccinated. Vaccination appointment slots are very rare, so you have to have a computer, fast internet, and tech savvy to get one. All things old folks are not likely to have. My wife got our 87 year old neighbor an appointment for one on Tuesday, and she had to drive about 35 miles to the vaccination site to get it.

Fortunately, she reported success on her return home.

My county started out with a first come first serve policy that turned into a nightmare, vaccination sites were mobbed daily and only a few received the vaccination while thousands camped out overnight in hopes of getting one. As long as vaccines are in short supply there will be no easy answers.

There have actually been instances when those giving shots gave shot that would be otherwise wasted to folks not allowed have been shut down. Sometimes them that stick to rules stick a bit more than necessary.

Yah, we had that too. Then they started making appointments and solved that one. There are any number of disasters that have occurred. One is when those wanting the shots make multiple appointments hoping for just one. Then, after they get the vaccine, the skip the other appointments. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

The problem remains - not enough vaccine! (I think that the manufacturers are producing as much as they can - I just hope they don't try too hard and start screwing up batches)
