You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.

Joe Manchin reverses stance on abolishing filibuster
Quote:
Joe Manchin Reverses Stance On Abolishing Filibuster
After Son Diagnosed With Filibuster Disease
44 minutes ago

WASHINGTONOvercome with guilt and grief, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced Monday that he was reversing his stance on abolishing the filibuster following his sons recent diagnosis with filibuster disease. After witnessing the debilitating effects of the filibuster firsthand, I now realize how terribly wrong I was to oppose abolishing it, said Manchin, whose eyes filled with tears as he described the long nights he had spent in the past weeks watching his son standing and pontificating for hours on end. I used to think the filibuster was necessary for a healthy Senate. Now, I see it leads to nothing but back pain, dehydration, and chronic tedium that can take a toll on everyone within earshot. Im so, so sorry for everything Ive said in the past, and I hope those still opposing filibuster reform wake up and realize that filibuster disease is something that can happen to anyone. At press time, Manchin announced he had donated $1 million in his sons name to researching Rule 22.

SCOTUS says that Fatboy Trump has to turn over his taxes. Fatboy then called the SCOTUS "Fascists" and vowed to "fight-on." Who's gonna tell Fatboy about "Fighting-on?" Fatboy seems cluesless as to how the court system works. coffee

That's actually true that he's going to "fight on". But in this case it's going to be in court when he's indicted.

Texas AG in Utah

Texas AG "visits" Utah during the freeze, closing in on becoming the most punch-able politician not in Texas when needed! To protect and serve, themselves!

Texas republicans are perfectly okay with their "leaders" bailing during hard times and even abandoning their dogs. Because if they could, they'd do exactly the same thing. But then...so would I.

No one would blame Marco Rubio if he fled Miami due to a hurricane.

They'd call him a fool if he stayed. Ted's job is not to lead Texans through hard times. They have state and local government for that.

Texans know why they elected him and presumably since he was re-elected they are satisfied with what he has done in Washington.

It does look bad, and now both Paxton and Cruz have to run with that on their records. But compare Trump's half a million dead to the much smaller death toll in Texas, and maybe it's not that big a deal. Inciting the insurrection was an actual crime with a sentence of prison time and exclusion from any elected office. And of course, neither was actually responsible for those poor frozen citizens. Neither has a job rescuing people in dire straights.

If the Governor, police, or EMTs fled the state, that would be much worse.

And when you think about who is ultimately responsible for the disaster that would just be any other winter storm in Northern states, it's the voters. They elected the Republicans who did what Republicans do. If you want elected officials to do responsible things, vote for Democrats. Simple as that.
