One of many tools that will become available. This is the singularity, and the knowledge curve is getting steep. mRNA and anti-viral therapeutics may make colds and flu, as well as many other viral diseases things of the past. I think really understanding cancer may be the key to immortality.

As I told my kids. My wife and I are too old to see how it all shakes out but, when it does its gonna get REAL interesting!

There has been an entire genre in science fiction that deals with the problems that come with extending life spans.

If anyone doubts we are in the singularity: 116 years ago was the first powered flight of the Wright Flyer. Today we had the first powered flight...on another planet. And that Martian helicopter contained a little swatch of the Flyer's original fabric.
