Or its opposite - hubrisciouslessness.

I went through the emotionally draining process of canceling our October Disney World vacation, yesterday. It was not as economically damaging as I feared (but not without cost). It's that I've been looking forward to, and planning, this vacation for months, so I've been very reluctant to take this action, even though its necessity has been becoming more obvious daily. But, the bottom line is, even though fully vaccinated, if my wife (who has significant health issues) needed medical intervention, it just might not be available. In Orange County 91.6% of hospital beds are occupied (4,375 of 4,779 beds), and 102.2% of ICU beds (875.7 of 856.5 beds used). It's just not worth the risk. [censored] DeSantis and the incredibly selfish population that supports him.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

I personally like trees as much as the next guy, but from a Systems Ecology viewpoint, planting trees on the prairie may not be an improvement. How many prairie residents would that displace or even drive to extinction? Human wishes often mean ecological disaster, IE. getting rid of all the mosquitos in Florida would remove an enormous food source for much of the wildlife.

I was thinking about diversification of species and stabilization of waterways.

Awww... frown

I know you were so looking forward to the trip.

I really didn't think 2021 would be like 2020 as far as life NOT getting back to normal, but it's turning out to be almost the same as 2020. shocked

I guess I was fortunate for that brief window around July 9th when I went to Chicago. Hmm I'm really glad that I went now. No regrets. My travel is on hold now for the simple reason that I used my vacation funds on Chicago. I just need to wait until the beginning of February 2022 to fill up that account again with my IRS refund check. I normally file around january 20th and get the refund by January 1st. Although this year, I didn't get the refund in nearly March 1st. mad But, it was still approved in January 2021 - so I knew how much I was getting. smile

Jon, I was notified today 09/05/21 that my income-based student loan repayment will go up $120.00 for FY 22 starting October 1st. I have to apply in July of every year and every year there have been substantial raises from my company.

More interest to deduct I suppose is the bright side - which means a larger tax refund. smile

C'mon Joe. Get infrastructure done. THEN, voting rights. THEN student loan debt done. laugh

So before anyone asks, yes, I have a federal student loan, no only the "direct" student loans are affected for payment relief. Mine is a consolidated loan that is somehow NOT exempt for payment relief and somehow Deutsche Bank owns it. crazy

I just sign the form every July and go about my bi'ness and look for the September 5th letter in my email box because the payment for September is due the 4th and on the 5th the new payment is noted as was today just like clockwork. gobsmacked

Voting rights must come NOW or we won't get any of that done. We'll just keep getting redder and redder. Georgia will go back.
Time to gerrymander some more!

I 100% agree Olyve.

In the voting rights bill, states are required to use non-partisan commissions for redistricting. The only way the GQP wins elections now is to cheat, steal, voter suppress, and gerrymander.

If you look at the 2020 "voter fraud" - it was ALL committed by Republicans...ALL of it. People using dead spouses' ballots, voting twice, etc.

The reality is that the GQP has no platform or ideas that the majority of Americans want. The GQP wants to rule things from being the minority. Hmm

Also too, Manchin and Sinema are both idiots. mad
