I have been persuaded by my good friend Le Fourreaur (English translation J. Furry) to extend my limited education and expedition in the expansion of Le Mind via the Golden Teacher, or other fungal faculty as might have a class opening. Of course, having a terminal doityerself philosophy, formerly including the maintenance of motorcycles, it is going to be an adventure in micro scale farming. Word is that the community of shroomery has a definite affinity for biochar. So much the better.

I wish you success. I watched about 2/3 of the documentary. I kind of lost interest when Andrew Weil showed up, and rather than scientifically explaining the mushrooms, it got a little, oh, what a friend of mine used to call “hippie dippy guru bullshi*t.”

Weil annoyed me, for some reason, when I first read him 25 years or so ago.

Not saying the claims weren’t true, I would just like a little more science. Me, I got nothing against shrooms.

Mr. Haas has testified, I accept him as my guru. For now…

Silly dramatics...

BBC article this morning

It seems at least part of my motivation comes from an ever increasing observation that humanity is nuts - I’d like a peek under the hood in hopes of understanding what drives that.

Another motivation is my ever increasing understanding and respect for fungi - the role they play in life on earth, and how they function.

Ask Dr. Fungi... he knows more than you do. That's ri-ight!

Perhaps the ancient Greek scribe Xeroxes has some answers?

You know, log - you and the BBC et al could almost make me talk to my doctor about it. I’ve only been in the vicinity of shrooms once but I found them a highly pleasant companion.

My biggest resistance would be trading the known for the unknown - proven pharmaceuticals vs. less-tested shrooms - no, I don’t think that’s a risk I want to take.

Now, as dessert - that’s another story!

I reckon I've done shrooms a hundred times or more. I've eaten them raw in the fields, gnawed sun-dried bits of nastiness, made spaghetti sauce with them, brewed them into teas and Koolaid.

They're pretty nasty, we usually boiled them up fresh into a thick purple-black tea.

Coffee with sugar hides the nasty flavor better than anything else. There's a little bit of an upset stomach at first and you get a feeling like you might get sick.

Ignore it. You won't. Have a beer and wait. Smoke a joint, put on some trippy music.

I prefer acid. It's a cleaner experience. But shrooms were free for the picking in any pasture.

Good coffee, good weed, and time on my hands...
