Silly log. Clearly you were never a small Catholic child. Rolling a rock is not the same as lifting it; disqualified. To pick up a rock that had been blown up, you’d have to pick up all the bits - same weight and mass problem. Disqualified. Let’s leave this one to the poor Catholic children, who learn to accept it without question as “belief,”

I was a small Mormon child for a brief time long ago. I even learned a song!

As for the humongous boulder, I was looking for a role for Rock 'n Roll in Religion!

How about weathering and erosion? Gawd invented them things and she has all the time in the world to wait for results... Might only take a week, though!

A Christian friend says simply "You underestimate the power of my God."

He is at once the irresistible force and the immovable object.

Can't tell you much more about boulders that you don't already know however when it comes to Rock n' Roll in Religion, just know this:
Jimmy Swaggart is actually a better piano player than his cousin Jerry Lee Lewis.
That's right, if ole Jim would just sell his soul to the Devil for an afternoon he could outplay The Killer.

I don't think "My God" is a Christian theological concept. They are monotheistic, despite all that claptrap about The Trinity, so they believe there IS only one God. So the proper statement would be: "You underestimate the power of our God."

Of course, including an atheist in the relationship might really piss them off. But I think that's something they have to accept when they claim to be a Christian.

“My God” refers more to possession than to number, I think. As in “I know God and claim him as mine, but you don’t know God, don’t have God, will live and die in the dark like the heathen you are.”

I think this is a far more Protestant outlook, though, as Catholics don’t have that “personal touch” with Jesus and are highly unlikely to use the phrase “personal lord and savior.”

I hope I wrote this clearly; the concepts are much stranger to me than they once were…but to say there is
only one god is to acknowledge a belief. To say “my god” is to claim a relationship (although rehabs one-sided.)

I was thinking about this thread today at work...

The whole premise of this thread is the Conservatives say that abortion rights and gay marriage rights are not in the Constitution - that these are examples of legislating from the bench.

Ok...two can play that game.

2A'ers didn't have rights until Scalia legislated them into existence. You wanna play that?!? Let's go, mo'fos - let's roll.

The problem here is that "they" claim various rights and privileges yet deny them to others. Straight, white, Christian men get the most rights and reserve the right to deny them to women, people of color, Muslims, and queers.

Our constitution was nothing more than a guideline for a new nation. It isn't the end-all land be-all as far as rights and privileges go, it's merely the starting point.

As long as the law allows anyone to marry it must allow everyone the same rights and privileges.

Liberals have grown slightly over the centuries. Conservatives, apparently, have not.
