Chickens are pretty hardy. As long as they can get out of the wind, they have good insulation and don't freeze. I watch a few New England farm channels on Youtube, and their chickens run right out in the snow when they let them out.

We're flying electric helicopters on Mars yet you can't turn on your clothes dryer in Texas. That's because scientists are in charge of Mars, and Republicans are in charge of Texas.

Most birds have little blood flow to their feet, which is good because there are not many feathers down there for insulation. The muscles that control the feet are higher up the leg with insulation. I was surprised in the Eastern Oregon desert to find a tree full of Peacocks roosting for the night above predator reach. It got very cold very quickly after dark. A rancher had brought them out there, and they seemed to do fine in the cold in the trees. I learned some of their unusual features including that Peacocks are one of the few birds that don't lay eggs, go figure!

There's a very tasteless George Carlin comedy clip about this, and I hesitate to post it because it contains the C word, but I swear it's funny.
Of course a pea-COCK doesn't lay eggs, he just "Flies United" for a bit and his job is done!
Laying the eggs is the job of the pea-**** !!

Ya just can't slip any fowl information past a dedicated CoNerd nowadays, even after laying a detailed backstory through a colorful cloaca, cry! grin that only has two functions in Peacocks! Peahens are 33.333% better at cloacal multitasking.

Moar NW Weather!! eek2

Quote
Atmospheric rivers to blast British Columbia yet again with more flooding
Some places could see 10 to 20 inches of rain by next week; western Washington also to receive heavy precipitation

Oh Oh! Looks like it's time to find high ground! Be careful and get your supplies, if there is anything left on the shelves! We had snow today but that's no problem around the multiple year Snowball winners for Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany who will never win.

The US States in the Pacific Northwest

Although the definition of Pacific Northwest varies and even the residents of this region have not agreed on the exact boundary, the common definition includes only three US states in the region, namely Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. These three regions are also part of the informal geographic region of the United States known as the Northwestern US. In broader terms, the region encompasses Alaska, Yukon, California, western Montana and parts of Wyoming.

Ya can get much more NW than that in America! grin
Some nitpickers might argue about Pacific as part of Alaska is in contact with the Arctic Ocean, but much is on the Pacific Ocean, if you lose your Bering's.

Welp, the folks who live in the PNW agree the region is ID, OR, WA. Then there is AK - which most people consider it a stand-alone and a region all by itself, like Hawaii. Is HI as region of the Southwest? No. Hmm
